Countries
As with all groups, there is a certain competition also
within the amateur radio society. The basic idea of the
majority of the radio amateurs who are interested in
making long distance (DX) contacts, so-called DX-er', is
to work as many countries. Countries are not just
countries as you know them; to make it more interesting
the american radio club decided to create more
countries by defining any piece of land to which certain
standards apply, to a DXCC-country. DXCC relates to
the DX Century Club, and the related DXCC award,
which one can apply for if and when he has worked 100
or more countries, on a certain frequency band.

The list indicates the countries worked on the 2 meter
band from my current home in Austria. The countries
worked from my previous homes do not count,
unfortunately....

Yellow countries mark the relatively rare countries

Red countries mark the first contact on 2 meters from Austria
to that specific country

DXCC Award

For a VHF enthusiast such as mself it is extremely
difficult to work 100 or more countries, althoug as proven
by several other station, not completely impossible.

Still a number of countries to work, before I can apply for
the award. And even though I need to work them, it is not
enough; I also need the QSL Card.

A list of QSL countries with their confirmation QSL cards
can be viewed here
